H&M ACHIEVES CRADLE TO CRADLE CERTIFIED® GOLD FOR NEWBORN COLLECTION — PIECES THAT, ONCE WORN FOR YEARS, CAN BE COMPOSTED

The clothing and accessories featured in the collection are made from 100% organic cotton and feature “room to grow” details such as adjustable waists plus foldable waistbands and cuffs. Positively spring-like in look and feel, there are 12 pieces in the Cradle to Cradle Certified® collection – tie-wrap long-sleeve tops, bottoms, a tie-wrap jacket, hats, a blanket and snuggle blankets – with a colour palette of warm oat melange, light sage green and soft yellow with pops of tangerine and dusty rose. Jersey, waffle and terry towelling fabrics and herringbone tape are all soft 100% organic cotton, while prints feature cute illustrated fruits and vegetables. The high-quality pieces can easily be passed along after being cherished and outgrown. Once they are well and truly worn out, the pieces are also eventually compostable in a home compost.

“Achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified® at the Gold level for this newborn collection helps assure new parents that the items aren’t just comfy and timeless; they are also as sustainable as they are adorable. We are proud to have achieved one of the highest levels of certification, and to share our sustainability progress with our customers”,

Sofia Löfstedt, Head of Kidswear Design at H&M.

To achieve Cradle to Cradle certification, each product in the newborn collection was assessed across five categories of sustainability performance in accordance with the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard. These include Material Health, Product Circularity, Clean Air and Climate Protection, Water and Soil Stewardship, and Social Fairness. To earn the certification from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, H&M worked closely with supply chain partners to ensure each product in the collection has been created using materials that are free from chemicals harmful to humans and the environment and designed without plastic or metal trims. The items are also manufactured using 100% recycled water and renewable energy. Each piece is also 100% biodegradable, including the printing pigments, ensuring the whole collection can be composted once it has been cherished, passed along and completely worn out after years of use.

The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute awards certifications on the basis of ascending achievement levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) based upon a product’s performance in each of the five certification categories.

H&M’S LATEST DENIM COLLECTION INNOVATES WITH WATER-SAVING PROCESSES

H &M is pushing to scale innovation, creating better products with the future in mind. With this collection, all the denim washes have been given a low-impact Environmental Impact Measurement (EIM) Score by Jeanologia®, and feature water-saving dyeing technologies. Laser technology was used for the printed styles to substitute traditional chemical intensive printing processes. And to further minimize water usage, H&M worked with suppliers who used recycling water systems during the washing stage.

The capsule collection also continues to be crafted from fabrics containing recycled material from industrial waste and collected garments, recycled threads, labels and pocketing, and partly recycled metal zippers and trims.

H&M’S LATEST EDITION BY COLLECTION CELEBRATES THE POWER OF PERSONAL EXPRESSION

For its third iteration; the Edition by concept invites everyone to partake in defining the future of menswear. Featuring a street cast shot by photographer Matt Jones in the vibrant streets of New Orleans, the campaign is a celebration of progressive individuality and the power of personal expression.

“The starting point for each Edition collection is to challenge and innovate within our sustainability work. One of the keys this season was to include natural and plant based dyeing techniques. Classic menswear pieces, the great outdoors and utility references are combined to create a modern look that we are very proud of. ”

says Ross Lydon, Head of Menswear Design at H&M

The collection combines elements of workwear, gorpcore and streetwear, focusing on utilitarian designs that bring value both through aesthetics and functionality. The color palette is defined by the use of innovative plant dyes. A pioneering technique where fabrics are treated with plant extracts, natural clay, bio-resins and natural enzymes to create beautiful organic colors without the use of harsh chemicals. Continuing in line with H&M’s ongoing mission towards a more circular future, the majority of the collection features mono-material compositions that easily can be recycled into new garments at the end of their life span.

A standout piece in the collection is the cagoule jacket; made of 100% recycled nylon, it comes in bright orange with large cargo pockets that blur the line between city and outdoor wear. Present in the shapes of a jacket, jeans and a boiler suit, the denim in this collection is reimagined for the future using a more sustainable mix of organic and recycled cotton. With their oversized fits, soft indigo-dyed shades and natural plated silver button hardware — these traditional workwear garments are updated with contemporary lightness. Overshirts and jerseys complete the look with their effortlessly loose fits, also entirely made of organic and recycled cotton in plant-dyed colors.

The collection consists of 23 garments and 3 accessories that will be available at hm.com and in selected stores March 10, 2022.

DEVON ROSS THROWS AN ELECTRIFYING LONDON DINNER PARTY TO LAUNCH H&M STUDIO’S S/S22 COLLECTION

Held in the photographer Rankin’s studio and apartment in north-west London, in collaboration with Dazed Studio, the loft was reimagined by rising British interior design star Jermaine Gallacher to incorporate his signature 1980s-inflected wit. Meanwhile, renowned British chef and talented restaurateur Jackson Boxer designed a menu to match the bold spirit of the collection.

After welcoming the guests with cocktails, the crowd progressed to dinner around long tables set with, Gallacher’s signature postmodern zig-zag candlesticks and leopard-print candles. They enjoyed a menu comprising Devon’s favourites from Boxer’s kitchen – then danced to floor-filling music by a second DJ set by Tim Rockins

“Though I’ve lived all over the world, there is a special place in my heart for London and the incredibly creative people that reside here. We photographed the S/S22 campaign in unusual spots all over the city, so it felt like the perfect place to celebrate the return of big-personality fashion with all my multi-talented friends, dressed to the nines,”

says Devon Ross, model, actor, musician and face of H&M Studio’s SS22 collection

“H&M Studio’s SS22 collection was inspired by the new mood of exuberance in the air, making us all want to dress up in fabulous clothes again. So, it felt right to celebrate this fashion feast of a collection with a joyful dinner in London hosted by Devon Ross, a friend of H&M. Devon was the perfect host for the evening, embodying the fun, individual spirit of the collection and the city,”

says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor at H&M

The H&M Studio collection will be available in selected stores and online at hm.com from February 24.

Much like a beautiful bouquet, the H&M Spring Statements collection offers an impressive assortment of shapes, colours and silhouettes. The collection’s cascading frills, bell sleeves, ruched hemlines and undulating pleats are undeniably floral. The red high-neck dropped-hem dress, wide-sleeved drawstring-waist dress and the rippling sunburst pleated dress are particular standouts. Other key pieces include the painterly collared shirt, the metallic tunic, and the statement puff-sleeve dress, which encapsulate the collection’s broad range of styles. The tangerine-toned chunky slip-on heels, the layered gold necklace, and the gilded chain-link belt encourage personalisation and bring a bolt of colour and embellishment to the expressive watercolour jacquards, prints and fluid textures of the garments. The collection is largely made with more sustainably sourced materials, such as sustainable viscose (ECOVERO), recycled polyester, Tencel and organic cotton.

“What I love is how versatile these pieces are. The collection is tailored for occasion wear, but there’s such an opportunity for experimentation in any circumstance.
