Kangol x H&M feat Mabel: a fresh new streetwear collaboration for the self-made generation

“Kangol are excited to work with H&M and Mabel on this collaboration. The collection perfectly captures the essence of Kangol today, full of fresh updates on streetwear style. We look forward to seeing our global Kangol community wearing Kangol x H&M,”

Hamish Morjaria, Kangol’s Head of Brand Partnerships and Licensing

“I am so excited about this collaboration with Kangol and H&M! Streetwear is in my blood and Kangol is such a legendary brand. It’s amazing to collaborate with Kangol and H&M, and to share my creativity and my style with a new generation,”

Mabel

“Kangol x H&M feat Mabel is a dream collaboration for us at H&M, uniting an iconic streetwear brand with one of the most authentic and genuine young music artists around. It’s about that 90s streetwear attitude updated for today, a style that Mabel has made her own. There are so many hits, from the famous bucket hat, to the slim midi dress and autumn’s hero piece, the puffer jacket,”

Emily Björkeheim, H&M’s Head of Design Divided.

Kangol is a legendary label of streetwear, instantly recognised for its kangaroo logo. An English brand founded in the 1920s, Kangol’s hats became an essential part of the look that evolved from 80s and 90s hip-hop culture. It’s the same authenticity that today makes Kangol a streetwear wardrobe staple for fans all over the world. Mabel is one of the most in-demand stars in the world right now, with over half-a-billion streams of her tracks like Don’t Call Me Up, Mad Love and Boyfriend. Mabel writes her own songs and defines her own style, a headstrong attitude of creativity and self-respect that touches everything she does.

The collection captures the perfect Kangol wardrobe for members of the self-made generation like Mabel: fresh, authentic, fun. This is a complete wardrobe with everything for autumn, from hooded puffer jackets and long puffers, to slouchy cardigans and sweaters knitted with the Kangol branding and logo. It’s about the essential pieces, like cropped rollneck sweaters in either cream or colour stripes, oversized logo T’s and a logo long-sleeve stretch midi-dress. Mabel herself co-created two pieces: a streetwear take on the slip dress, complete with Kangol logos, and a Kangol-branded pair of joggers.

There’s a full set of accessories, like the world-famous Kangol bucket hat, as well as beanies and a beanie pompom. There’s a boxy cross-body bag with a Kangol branded strap, a shopper and a bum-bag, as well as bag charms. Kangol-branded socks are made to be seen, and the look is finished with Kangol scrunchies.

A week before the collection drops, Mabel will reveal a new interactive video for her track Bad Behaviour on Instagram Stories. Fans and followers can use six Kangol x H&M exclusively made filters to star in their own totally unique self-produced version of the music video, and to share it with other members of the self-made generation around the world. The filters will be exclusively available on H&M’s Instagram channel from September 10.

H&M collaborates with Taiwan-based illustrator Whooli Chen for a more sustainable kids collection

Whooli Chen’s fantastical and expressive illustrations feature on dresses, cosy hoodies, a jumpsuit, joggers and leggings, plus a matching rabbit-shaped bag, scrunchies, beanies and snoods, all in a variety of print techniques and effects. Pyjamas, underwear and socks round out the collection. With a colour palette of warm, soft neutrals and black as a contrast, plus greens, muted pink, turquoise, navy and pop colour accents, the magic of nature and wildlife really comes to life. The entire collection is made from more sustainable materials, such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, Tencel, cotton sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative and for the first time in kidswear, Texloop™ RCOT™. A fabric with a high share of recycled cotton, Texloop™ processes high-value cotton waste to create new fabric, preserving the original fibre quality for the next generation of recycled materials.

“I’m always inspired by botany and zoology, but literature is also a constant source of wonder. That sense of storytelling is what I try to bring out in all my illustrations so with the H&M collaboration, I focused on certain animals, flowers and scenes of nature during autumn to capture the minds and hearts of the children wearing the collection. I can’t wait to see and hear about their reactions.”

Whooli Chen

“Whooli Chen’s illustrations are so unique and beautiful, balancing softness and precision, and they look absolutely stunning on all the kidswear designs. We’re also happy to have more sustainable materials throughout this collaboration, including Texloop™, a fantastic material that we’ve incorporated into some of the pieces. For example, the long-sleeve T-shirt is 50% Texloop™ RCOT™ recycled cotton, the highest ever combination of recycled and sustainably sourced cotton H&M has ever done.”

H&M introduces Blank Staples, men’s essentials that elevate streetwear everyday

This core collection from H&M elevates the basics, with subtle but highly considered design aesthetics, each piece finished its own blank label. Blank Staples is conceived and created by the men’s design team at H&M, partnering with Highsnobiety to work on campaigns and future collaborations. The first drop of Blank Staples will arrive on hm.com and in around 150 H&M stores worldwide on September 3.

“We are excited to begin this new journey with Blank Staples at H&M. It’s about creating something meaningful, both as core essentials for the way men live today and as a blank canvas for future collaborations. Highsnobiety are the perfect partners because of their expertise, knowledge and credibility within the streetwear segment,”

Ross Lydon, Head of Menswear Design at H&M

“Highsnobiety is thrilled to bring Blank Staples to life with H&M. This carefully considered collection is in tune with how men dress today, with an attitude that’s open to collaborative and creative possibilities,”

David Fischer, Founder and CEO of Highsnobiety

Blank Staples sets the new standard for essentials at H&M, with a focused collection cut from heavyweight cottons that have a dry hand-feel. For H&M’s men’s design team, the emphasis is on the specific details that matter in streetwear. It’s the silhouette that comes from the drop of the shoulder, and the proportions of the sweatpants or the width of the neckline rib. Blank Staples is curated in a modern colour palette of tobacco, off white, brown and black.

The collection is in tune with the evolving way that men live their lives. As dress codes become more relaxed, the details count more than ever. Blank Staples gives fresh opportunities for creating personal style, by adding elevated streetwear pieces into the mix. It’s about taking pride in the everyday wardrobe, whether it’s for work, for play, for both.

As the season develops, Blank Staples will become a blank canvas for collaborations, with global creatives making their own mark on the collection in limited edition drops. Each Blank Staples piece will come with a blank label, along with the core logo designed by Highsnobiety that plays on traditional care labels. It’s a logo with symbols that tell the story of the collection and the ethos behind Blank Staples.

H&M collaborates with designer Sandra Mansour for a feminine and empowering womenswear collection dedicated to the love of nature

Sandra Mansour established her fashion house in 2010 and her attention to detail and craftmanship, mixed with inspiration from art and her surroundings in Beirut, shines through in all her designs. For the Sandra Mansour x H&M collection, Sandra draws inspiration from elements of nature and female artists such as Toyen, Dorothea Tanning, Lena Leclercq and Bibi Zogbé. The result is a feminine and strong range of dresses, blouses and skirts, a tailored blazer, and a printed T-shirt and hoodie. Fit-and-flare shapes and ruffled hems are mixed with volume and statement details in an earthy colour palette of mushroom greys, ivory and black. Mansour names each of her collections, and the Sandra Mansour x H&M collaboration is entitled “Fleur du Soleil” after becoming fascinated with the way a sunflower follows the sun from day into night. Dot, floral and sunflower motifs enrich sheer, delicate fabrics and emphasise the craftsmanship, while the feminine silhouettes exude power and urban edge.

“The inspiration for the H&M collaboration was nature and natural elements. Especially the sunflower, which represents the cycle of life, and its dependency on sun and light. Poetry and painters inspired the selection of fabric – the dark laces, jacquards, and embroidered organza. With the Fleur du Soleil collection, I want to talk to women around the world by sending a message of hope, something we really need right now,”

Sandra Mansour, CEO, and designer.

“The first things you notice about Sandra Mansour’s designs are their dreamy qualities and sheer beauty, but then you get further drawn into the craftsmanship, the storytelling and the modern youthfulness. There’s also something empowering about the femininity. We’re proud to be collaborating with such a trailblazer and look forward to launching the collection worldwide!”

Maria Östblom, head of design womenswear at H&M.

H&M collaborates with all-female surf collective Women + Waves for a sustainable swimwear collection.

With a range of modern swimwear, one-pieces, rash guards and a wetsuit in a high-quality natural rubber, the Women + Waves x H&M collection performs equally well in the ocean and on land — it’s surf and style ready. Designed by a H&M in-house team in close collaboration with Women + Waves, the collection’s overall silhouettes are strong and sleek in homage to surfing as an active sport and the women it brings together. A hoodie, T-shirt and accessories are also included, featuring special Women + Waves logos by illustrator and fellow member Clara Jonas. The whole collection is made from fabric blends with at least 50% sustainably sourced materials such as recycled polyamide, recycled polyester and organic cotton. There are details such as zip openings, body-enhancing seams and secure straps, while the colour palette of muted greens, soft yellow and black is cool and confidence-building, just like the women who are part of the sisterhood of surf.

“With this H&M collaboration, we really wanted each piece not only to be practical but also reflect the strength and empowerment of women surfing together. Our community started from casual once-a-week gatherings and now it has grown into a real collective who constantly support one another. I hope the H&M collaboration will inspire women to surf, plus raise awareness of keeping the oceans clean,”

Rachel Murphy, founder of Women + Waves.

“When we came across Women + Waves for the first time, we were blown away by the power and authenticity of this all-female surf collective. It’s unique, positive and inspiring, so we’re absolutely thrilled to be collaborating with them. Together, we knew it was important to have functional and fashionable swimwear as the core of the collection, which could then be styled for any occasion under the current circumstances we are in, when we might only be able to dream of our summer destinations,”

Maria Östblom, head of design womenswear at H&M.
