H&M and illustrator Karolina Kijak bring in spring with a kidswear collaboration that celebrates nature

The Karolina Kijak x H&M collaboration is based on two natural worlds – the land and the sea. For the land-based illustrations, the animals lead the way with zebras, cheetahs, giraffes, flamingos and palm leaves, while the ocean world celebrates vibrant fish, majestic sharks and starfish. The collection includes dresses, denim jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, t-shirts, trousers, skirts and shorts. Tie-dye, ombre effects and details such as drawstring waists, patch pockets and contrast necklines feature alongside a colour palette of olive green, ocean blue, coral pink, light grey and yellow. Accessories include sunglasses, handbags and headbands.

“With this H&M collaboration, I have the wonderful opportunity to show children beautiful animals in the wild and in the ocean, which is especially important because I want them to be inquisitive and feel inspired about the world they live in. It makes me happy bringing these creatures closer to children on their own clothes and I’m very curious to find out what their reactions will be like.”

Karolina Kijak-Dzikońska

“We were immediately drawn to Karolina’s watercolour illustrations for the way the colours come alive and create a sense of character in the animals. For our collaboration, we wanted to unite the worlds of both land and sea in a playful way. Our hope is that kids – and their parents – will find the adventure in this happy spring collection.”

Sofia Löfstedt, Head of Kidswear Design at H&M

H&M CELEBRATED IT´S STUDIO SS20 COLLECTION WITH AN EVENT IN BEVERLY HILLS

As an extra treat, the crowd enjoyed curated bites by burgeoning stars of the California food scene, Yola Mezcal. Artist Maayan Zilberman of Sweet Saba, created sculpted candy rock rings inspired by the new Studio collection as takeaway gifts for guests at the event. The H&M Studio SS20 collection will be available for purchase at hm.com and in selected stores from February 20.

“The S/S20 collection muse is a forward-looking free spirit – someone who surfs, climbs, explores and who wants to experience new things. The collection is both raw and refined: natural fabrics with raw edges are mixed with refined elements, such as shiny metallics and futuristic accessories. There’s a freedom in the way the collection can be worn, too: we want our customers to feel that anything goes.”

Ann-Sofie Johansson, Creative Advisor at H&M.

Inspired by a research trip to the Swedish island of Gotland, the SS20 collection takes a carefree surf girl as its muse: one who mixes voluminous wear-anywhere dresses with raw-edged tailoring and sporty swimsuits. Key pieces include the electric pink recycled polyester dress, the limestone-hued viscose-linen cropped jacket with raw-edged hems and wide-legged trousers, the chunky cotton-nylon crochet cardigan, and the statement platform leather ankle boots. A colour palette of hot pink and cobalt blue with flashes of acid green dominates, set against limestone and cream. The collection will be split into two drops, with a high-summer offering of athletic swimwear and easy beach kaftans which will be available at hm.com from end of May.

“I´m very nostalgic when it comes to H&M as it reminds me of my childhood and shopping with my mom. I also love nothing more than to sing harmonies under the stars surrounded by friends. It was a beautiful evening.”

Lykke Li.

“I’ve modeled for and shopped at H&M since I was a teenager, so I was happy to be in LA in such a beautiful location to celebrate the new H&M Studio collection. This is a look I’ll be wearing on repeat this summer”

Jourdan Dunn, model.

“I’m thrilled to be able to celebrate the spring H&M Studio collection, alongside all these fabulous people. The new season has a ton of my favourite spring essentials; carefree dresses and fun accessories.”

Paloma Elsesser model and body activist.

“I was inspired to create a candy crystal installation with H&M after seeing the euphoric color palette of the new H&M studio collection. The combo of neon pinks greens and blues reminded me of raw gemstones so I created giant candy cocktail rings embedded in life sized desert boulders- a surreal interpretation of the theme, offering guests a chance to interact with and taste the collection.”

Maayan Zilberman of Sweet Saba.

H&M DROPS BILLIE EILISH MERCH COLLECTION WITH CAMPAIGN WORK BY TRAILBLAZING 3D ARTIST INES ALPHA

Billie Eilish burst onto the music scene in 2016 and is now one of the most sought-after artists in the world. For the H&M merch collection, the designs features Billie’s official logos and capture her signature oversized style – long, boxy t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirt dresses, joggers and t-shirt dresses in a colour palette of cream, black, pale green and pops of neon green. The overall vibe is laidback and accessible yet edgy and all of the clothing has been made from materials sourced in a more sustainable way. Accessories include beanies, bucket hats, socks and a bum bag.

“We’re super excited about this merch collection drop. Billie Eilish is obviously an inspiring artist, but also someone a lot of people around the world admire for her personal style and empowering way of expressing her values. We want to enable her fans to step into her world and feel empowered to freely express their style as well,” says Emily Bjorkheim, H&M’s Head of Design Divided

An important part of the Billie Eilish merch campaign belongs to Ines Alpha whose 3D makeup creations have been called revolutionary and the future of beauty. Having already worked with many well-known models, creatives and magazines, the Paris-based art director and 3D artist relished the opportunity to craft exclusive 3D effects for the campaign.

“I’m trying to push the boundaries of beauty and makeup by trying to offer more possibilities for self-expression. And with 3D it’s pretty much endless – for the H&M Billie Eilish merch campaign, I wanted to work with liquids from another planet, floating around the models and bringing colours and fun to this augmented world. Those surrealistic 3D elements are living in the images, videos and the custom-made Snapchat filter for everyone to play with,”

H&M Loves Coachella collection: get the festival spirit with The Atomics

This year’s campaign for H&M Loves Coachella will feature an exclusive new video by The Atomics, the alternative pop band of Lucky Blue Smith and his sisters Pyper America, Starlie and Daisy Clementine. In the video, The Atomics cover Let’s Live For Today by The Grass Roots, showing how the Coachella look spreads worldwide beyond the festival itself.

“H&M Loves Coachella has all the pieces to get the festival spirit, wherever you are in the world,”

The Atomics.

Key pieces in this year’s H&M Loves Coachella collection include the sheer black lace spaghetti-strap dress, worn with a faux suede studded choker and pink heart sunglasses. Lace-trimmed slip-dresses have festival attitude layered over hand-drawn Coachella T’s, while the essential floral-embroidered denim jacket is perfect over a metallic body with a sheer powder-pink pleated mesh skirt – finish the look with large gold star earrings. For the ultimate in festival style, there’s the essential hoodie and also a metallic anorak, plus a black body suit with an open-laced back.

For men, it’s about the perfect tie-dye T-shirt with matching tie-dye drawstring shorts. A white cotton tank has gothic Coachella graphics on the back and the cut- off denim shorts has biker details at the knee, for a sharp Coachella mix. Meanwhile an Ikat printed short sleeve shirt makes the perfect layered look together with a pair of faded festival jeans.
